What is Little Stream Detector?

What's New in 3.0

  • Added A Current / B Reference comparison with separate summaries and Set/Remove Ref B controls.
  • Added shared-scale A/B bitrate graphs, legends, and interactive tooltips.
  • Added compatible A/B quantizer distributions with codec-aware ranges.
  • Added native VP8 analysis for Matroska/WebM.
  • Added VP9 analysis for Matroska/WebM and standard MP4/MOV (vp09), including superframes, hidden/shown frames, and Base Q Index.
  • Added AV1 multi-tile frame-header traversal.
  • Expanded MPEG-4 Part 2/XviD analysis with GMC/S-VOP support.
  • Added native fragmented MP4 indexing using mvex/trex and moof/traf/tfhd/tfdt/trun.
  • Added fragment sample offset, size, timing, flag, and composition-offset resolution.
  • Preserved the conventional MP4 sample-table route.
  • Added parser completeness, accounting, rejected-header, and failure diagnostics.
  • No external multimedia tools or temporary files are required.

Analysis Features

Containers:

  • Matroska/WebM, AVI/OpenDML, standard MP4/M4V/MOV, and fragmented MP4.
  • Native Matroska lacing, AVI indexes, MP4 sample tables, and fMP4 fragment indexes.
  • Separate standard and fragmented MP4 routes with shared canonical output.

Video:

  • AVC, HEVC, AV1, VP8, VP9, and MPEG-4 Part 2/XviD.
  • Native frame-type and quantizer analysis using SliceQPY, Base Q Index, or VOP quantizer.
  • Quantizer histograms and parser completeness validation.

Audio:

  • AAC, MP3, AC-3, E-AC-3, integer PCM, and floating-point PCM.
  • Sample rate, channels, payload, duration, bitrate, and accounting.

Interface:

  • Summary A/B, Streams, JSON, Log, bitrate profiles, quantizer graphs, tooltips, drag-and-drop, and explicit N/A reporting.

Fragmented MP4 Scope

Supports complete local, unencrypted files with an initialization moov box and moof/traf/tfhd/tfdt/trun fragments. Resolved samples use the existing canonical analysis pipeline.

Known Limitations

  • CENC encryption and senc, saiz, or saio are unsupported.
  • Initialization-free segments, incomplete files, and live streams are unsupported.
  • VP8 is limited to Matroska/WebM; VP9 in AVI is unsupported.
  • AVI AVC expects Annex B; AVI AAC and E-AC-3 are unsupported.
  • Container-only color metadata is not used as a fallback.
  • A/B quantizer comparison requires the same metric.
