Lynx has two advantages: • it runs in terminal, even when no graphic desktop environment is available; • it displays sites in the way search engines see them, it is useful for web developers.
Open sourced. light-weight, minimalistic.
It has uses outside of a command-line browser. For example with the -dump option you can write quick Python scripts to crawl through the web that you will only use once or twice.

Lightweight and great for reading text without distraction!
Lynx has saved me many times when I lose my desktop. It was also a great help when I was running FreeBSD and I wanted to see the FreeBSD manual.
