Lyven

A household app for couples that gives every job in the home one owner, weighted by the real effort it takes, so the noticing and planning move across too, not just the doing.

The house deck: every job has one owner rather than a shared list, weighted by the effort it really takes.

What is Lyven?

Lyven is a household app for couples. Every job in the home gets one owner, weighted by the real effort it takes, and that owner carries the noticing and the planning as well as the doing.

The problem it targets: splitting the visible chores while one partner keeps all the noticing and planning does not actually move the load. Lyven moves whole jobs across, noticing included. A ten-minute weekly check-in keeps the split from drifting back, which is the part most systems miss.

There is no scoreboard and there are no points. The split is shown as a weighted share of real weekly time rather than a competition, and an even split is not treated as the goal.

Alongside the split, Lyven runs the week: a shared roster, meal planning, and living shopping and to-do lists, so the plan and the work sit in one place.

Lyven is inspired by Eve Rodsky's Fair Play method but is not affiliated with it, and uses its own card set and language.

It runs as a web app and installable PWA on any phone, tablet or computer, iPhone and Android alike, with no app store download. It is available worldwide; data is hosted in Australia under the Australian Privacy Principles.

Lyven is in open beta, so you can set a home up straight away, and households who join during the beta keep it free. A cap on how many homes join each day keeps the pace manageable. It is built by a husband and wife in Melbourne with no investors and no staff, which is also why it is small and new rather than something you would already have heard of.
