Being a Mega Man traditionalist, & semi-purist, I was reluctant to give W much of a chance mostly due to its use of custom sprites instead of the originals by Capcom. Due to the game's excellent design, I quickly let go of that bias. As far as production quality is concerned, I put it at the top of the list of Mega Man fan games. Just above Mega Man: Rock N Roll. It doesn't feel like a fan game, but rather a solid entry into one of the most popular game franchises in history. Every aspect of design is carefully executed: Music, graphics, gameplay & input response. It has a solid storyline with new characters & ideas adding to the Mega Man universe without losing the experience of traditional games. I will warn though, if you are not a fan of maneuvering death spikes, you may want to disable instant death. As this game has plenty of death spikes.
