I've been a long-time user of mIRC, appreciating its reliable performance and versatility. However, the recent decision to end its lifetime license agreement feels like a cash grab and a betrayal of loyal users. Many of us invested in the software with the understanding that we would have lifetime access. Now, being forced into a subscription model or one-time payments for new versions feels unfair and disregards the commitment we made. It's frustrating to see a company prioritize profit over its dedicated user base. There are plenty of free alternatives out there that offer similar functionality without these unexpected costs.

What is mIRC?

mIRC is an Internet Relay Chat client for Windows. It allows communication, collaboration, and entertainment with users worldwide through group conferences or private discussions. The client has a customizable interface and supports features like multi-server connections, IPv6, SSL encryption, proxy use, UPnP, SASL authentication, notify/buddy lists, file transfers, DCC/CTCP, IRCv3 extensions, and UTF-8 support. Other features include spoken messages, tray notifications, audio alerts, colored usernames, flood protection, message logging, and Windows dark mode compatibility. mIRC also includes a scripting language for automating operations or developing applications for functions like network communications and game playing.
