Its the best decentralized social network that I found. I can finally create and find groups

Looked so promising! Allegedly has groups! Then you try to sign up for this thing.

First, they want you to sign up for XMPP, which I had to look up what that is. The old JABBER client, which ok, no one back in the day knew what that was either.

So I sign up with an email on their XMPP link. Then I try to log into movim.eu. Nope! You can’t. You have to try to log into your XMPP account. They send a message there.

There is no way of getting into your XMPP account.

So, this is another “trip to nowhere”!!! What a disappointment!

XMPP is old, but gold. It's valued for its decentralized nature, which provides independence from large corporate entities which in our day and age is a godsend. Using it is not difficult at all. Just use your Jabber address in a suitable chat program like Gajim.

What is Movim?

Movim is a federated blogging and chat platform that acts as a web frontend for the XMPP protocol, providing a secure, decentralized communication experience. It integrates chatrooms, news feeds, stories, and video-conferences into one seamless interface, accessible across all devices.
