What's not to like about it?
I'm really looking forward to the 'simple account system' which is currently under development. Until then, using multi twitter feeds by putting semicolons between account names works great as well (for example https://nitter.net/thatcks,segphault,troyhunt).
There are still a few working Nitter instances: https://xcancel.com/ (most actively maintained) https://nitter.poast.org/ https://nitter.privacydev.net/
But be aware of any errors you may encounter.
...and yes it is: X sent a Cease-and-Desist to Nitter taking the remaining instances offline
"It is time to go." "Was I a good frontend?" "No. I was told you were the best." RIP Nitter. Fuck Elon.
Nitter only provides a privacy-friendly frontend, without that mess what Twitter (or X, whatever, Elon) loads of javascripts, trackers and whatnot, even long before Elon took over. Sad thing is, he is absolutely doing the best to make the experience for Nitter users worse by every passing day. Despite a Mrs. Yaccarino is CEO, Elon is still the owner and he has to blame for everything, not her.
Best web app for privately accessing Twitter. Can't wait for the "simple account system" but apparently that's been years in the works based on comments.
I don't know if it only happens to me, but since Twitter has increased the cost of accessing their API, Nitter has stopped working.
That's because Tweets, both public and private on the site, are now locked behind a sign-up wall which was initiated to stop 'aggressive data scrapping' from "affecting the real user experience." So essentially because of billing issues amongst many other management problems, the public API cannot be scrapped by 3rd-party services like Nitter as of writing.
Twitter's current interface is very cluttered with trends, recommendations and log-in nag walls, so therefore Nitter is a pretty convincing "Reader View" backend for those who just want to read a tweet or feed without distracting trends and nonsense.
