Stable, fast, and reliable VPN service. Does what it claims.
Slow signup process: First you get an email with my username, but not a password. Then you have to pay and are redirected by proprietary CloudFlare to another page without the opportunity to set a password either. So you then have to reset the password and engage in more back and forth emails.
Slow speed: NordVPN don't tell you exactly where the server is located so you can't just choose the closest one to you. I had to use openpyn-nordvpn (on Github) to find the server with the best ping. Even with the best server, the speed and stability were unacceptably slow.
Privacy policy and practices etc: not exactly concise, but they're not the worst. Their no-logs practices were recently audited by one of the Big Four accountancy firms, but they don't want to share the details of the audit. They do claim, however, that the report suggests that NordVPN is living up to its no-logging promises. However, I don't like the fact that no one knows who's ultimately behind the company as well as their aggressive and unethical marketing practices and dubious claims. Another concern is that they use CloudFlare and other proprietary non-private live chat systems and non-free API's and cookies.
There is bug in NordVPN right now, or they cooperate and report to some "organizations". I am definitely "tracked" though NordVPN. I had to cancel my account with 10 months left prepaid. I switched to different VPN with month to month payments.
As a user with 2 years of experience, I can confidently say that the service is not ideal in certain countries, especially where it gets blocked entirely. While NordVPN’s VPN service is excellent, I’ve always relied on third-party OpenVPN clients to use it. This is because the default application constantly requires me to log in, which isn’t possible in my country due to the service being blocked.
Absolutely 100 percent a monstrosity, and nord is a derivitave, 100 percent know for a fact it logs and piracy is against tos, so good luck torrenting, also not the best for p2p, i have proof of the surfshark detecting my piracy, so this one is a no go, you are all better torrenting on a vm or tails with a cellular data ip address, so spread the word, this one is going down because it is 100 percent not legit and 100 percent tracks everything you do, in fact it is so bad i wish i could give it a negative 100, but not possible. be careful torrenting. just saying. nord is same
NordVPN has been great, but I'd like to see the company open-source 100% of their code. Transparency is an action louder than words.
Nord is a bait and switch, after getting locked in for a year they got rid of the SOCKS proxy (yes they still keep a few servers but it's unusable as it keeps disconnecting) and general usability of the browser extension and apps. Bet their execs are laughing to the bank.
