What is OpenConvertVideo?

OpenConvertVideo converts video entirely inside your browser. Files are never uploaded - conversion runs on your own machine using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, plus your browser's built-in hardware encoder for common formats. There is no server receiving your video, no account, no watermark, and no imposed file size limit; the only ceiling is your device's memory.

Converts to MP4 (H.264 or H.265), MKV, MOV, WebM (VP9) and GIF, plus audio-only MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG and M4A. One-click presets handle WhatsApp, Instagram and email attachment limits. Also extracts frames to a ZIP, builds video from an image sequence, remuxes MKV to MP4 without re-encoding, and tone-maps HDR footage to SDR.

Because nothing leaves the device, it is a reasonable choice for footage you would not hand to a third-party server — medical recordings, family video, confidential work files. You can verify the claim yourself: open your browser's Network tab during a conversion and watch for outbound traffic that never appears.

Free. Works in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers, Firefox, and Safari 15.2+.
