Cost / License

Platforms

  • Mac  Java 11 or newer to open the launcher. The launcher provides a compatible Java 11 runtime for Intel and Apple Silicon.
  • Windows  Java 11 or newer to open the launcher. The launcher manages a compatible Java 11 client runtime. Windows x64; Windows ARM relies on x64 emulation.
  • Linux  Java 11 or newer to open the launcher. Runtime downloads support x64 and ARM64; Alpine Linux supports x64.

What is OpenOSRS?

OpenOSRS is an extensible desktop client for Old School RuneScape. This independently maintained community fork builds on the OpenOSRS and RuneLite projects.

Its External Plugin Manager loads plugins from GitHub repositories. A separate example repository includes three small plugins covering game events, NPC overlays and inventory changes. Developers can build the client from source and use the public plugin guide and Javadocs.

The companion launcher checks for client and launcher updates, verifies downloads and keeps cached files. Release notes document the supported baseline and known compatibility limits.

The client code is open source; the separately downloaded game dependency and the game service have their own terms.
