PeerTube is currently in alpha and will be beta in March. It is free software, decentralized, shared and based on the principle of instance. Indeed, everyone can create his own instance and share his content with the content of other instances. This gives it complete freedom of expression, a neutral service, a much greater diversity of content, and even the possibility of paying videographers based on fairer and different models. But above all, to offer a free alternative to GAFAMs and their model. For more information, visit the FramaTube website, proposed by the Framasoft association.
i love open source and it better then youtube
Has nice UI and good performance. I love to use it
needs a better search engine honestly. i can never find right videos with the current one (sepiasearch).
I found incredibly complicated to use. Even worse than odysee. Tried from official website and it is not intuitive. I found link for google store in here but not in their page, i had impression this website was designed back to 1990, functional but many scrolls to see 5 thumbnails videos. And when i searched some keywords, sometimes i got zero results. “Moon” has very few videos fr example.
The federation model means sites can share videos with each other. And there's some good content that doesn't seek to "game the algorithm" like on youtube. But you have to be careful which sites you use because some of them definitely have some harmful stuff. (Youtube has harmful stuff too but I think people are more forgiving about it on yt because of the algorithm). It also sucks that you can't use noscript with it because peertube uses javascript.
The only federated youtube alternative. Having support for activitypub in a video hosting platform is a great idea
