What is Pet Gatekeeper?

Pet Gatekeeper is a screen-time management tool for Mac and Windows, with browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Unlike traditional blockers that rely on harsh warning pages or guilt-based messages, Pet Gatekeeper uses emotional connection as its mechanism — your own pet.

Users upload 1 to 4 photos of their cat, dog, or any beloved animal. The app converts these into a short looping video that plays across any website when the user's self-set time limit expires. The site becomes inaccessible until the timeout period ends, with the pet's face filling the screen instead.

Time limits are fully customizable per website. Common targets include X (Twitter), TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, and Instagram. All processing happens locally on the device — no usage data is collected or transmitted.

An 8-character sync code lets users share the same pet video across multiple devices. Credits are used to generate pet videos and never expire after purchase.

Pet Gatekeeper is designed for remote workers, students, and anyone prone to doomscrolling who finds conventional blockers too easy to dismiss. The underlying premise: it is harder to ignore something you love.
