What is PR Labeller?

PR Labeller is a native Mac label editor for LabelWriter printers.

It exists because DYMO has never shipped an Apple Silicon build of its label software, which is therefore Intel-only and depends on Rosetta 2 — and Apple is retiring Rosetta: upgrading to macOS 27 removes it, and Apple's own prompt says Intel apps will not open at all in macOS 28. The printers are not the problem: the LabelWriter driver has been universal for years. Only the application was stuck.

PR Labeller opens and writes the same .label files, reads DYMO address books (.abx) and CSV files, and prints through the driver already installed on the Mac, so no hardware and no label stock has to change. Existing templates render faithfully: the 133 label files used to develop it render pixel-identically to their reference, and saving one back produces a byte-identical file.

It also creates and edits labels — text, addresses, pictures, barcodes and shapes, with alignment, snapping, layering, unlimited undo, rotation at any angle rather than only right angles, and a print alignment test with sub-millimetre offsets for machines that grip the stock slightly differently.

Free and fully unlocked until 1 March 2027. After that, printing your existing labels stays free permanently; designing becomes part of a one-off purchase. No subscription, no account, no server, nothing phones anywhere.

Universal (Apple Silicon and Intel), macOS 14 or later, and tested on macOS 27. Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple.
