Prep Slate is a recipe application designed to assist users during their cooking process. It features a hands-free mode that allows users to navigate through the app using voice commands. By simply saying "Hey Prep", users can progress to the next step, go back to the previous one, set a timer, or stop it. Once activated, the hands-free mode remains on for the next cooking session. This feature is available on iPhone devices and supports English language commands.
The application also offers a cooking mode that displays the current step and the full list of ingredients simultaneously. Ingredients can be crossed off as they're used, and this progress is synced across all devices. The app also remembers the last step a user was on, even if the app is closed. It also allows users to scale recipes to suit their needs. Furthermore, Prep Slate enables users to save recipes from a variety of sources, including URLs, shared recipes from Safari, photos of cookbook pages or recipe cards, and even from other recipe apps.
Prep Slate also provides smart organization features. Each recipe is automatically tagged based on different parameters such as cuisine, protein, cook time, technique, and meal type. Users can also add their own tags. The app also supports full-text search across titles, ingredients, tags, and notes. It also facilitates meal planning by allowing users to schedule recipes onto a calendar with a target eat-time. A timeline works backward from the desired mealtime to help users know when to start preparing. Lastly, Prep Slate includes a shopping list feature that organizes ingredients by aisle and combines quantities by unit. Users can export all their recipes as JSON or printable HTML at any time, and the app does not feature ads, a recipe discovery feed, or social features.
