    Does what it says. Range can be extended beyond own network through tunneling. Can install aplications for you and upload non apk files to your phone by simply dragging them onto the mirrored screen.

    Has no gui so the only way to use/configure it is through a CLI and lacks an easy way to download files from a target device, though you can still do it with adb.

Only totally free app I found that allows control over WiFi. May need some tweakings with adb but works great !

I've read the "How does it Work?" I have no clue what they are talking about. But it does? Had some guidance from youtube vids for installation on Mac (currenly Monterey). Works a dream, Thanks to developers.

What is scrcpy?

This application mirrors Android devices (video and audio) connected on USB and WiFi, and allows to control the device with the keyboard and the mouse of the computer. It does not require any root access. It works on Linux, Windows and macOS.

IT FOCUSES ON:

  • performance: 30~120fps, depending on the device
  • quality: 1920×1080 or above
  • low latency: 35~70ms
  • low startup time: ~1 second to display the first image
  • non-intrusiveness: nothing is left installed on the device
  • user benefits: no account, no ads, no internet required
  • freedom: free and open source software

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • The application executes a server on the device. The client and the server communicate via a socket over an adb tunnel.
  • The server streams a video stream of the device screen. The client decodes the video frames and displays them. For Android 11+, the server also streams an audio stream of the device audio output, that the client decodes and plays.
  • The client captures input (keyboard and mouse) events, sends them to the server, which injects them to the device.
