Comments and Reviews
Sourceforge used to be the go to place for code repository until they started hijacking projects to add malware to their installers.
Also through some kind of deal Sourceforge covered the download pages with advertisements that mimicked their download button which led to shady sites with potentially dangerous downloads.
Sourceforge is supposed to be clean now and owned by different people but most of the best project abandoned SF for better places like Github anyway.
Almost everything you wrote here is completely false.
The site is impossible to navigate when browsing other people's repositories. Very outdated design. Nowhere near GitHub quality.
Sourceforge has proved to be a great platform for us to explore new software, compare their capabilities & assess if it suits our specific needs or not.
SourceForge continually helps us select the most suitable set of tools for our business by providing honest and transparent reviews from people using those tools. It's a big save of money and time.
I like SourceForge because it helps me discover new softwares & the honest reviews about those help me assess the pros & cons of the software practically.
I have been using this platform for a long time to be able to easily discover any software that I require to meet the needs that I present in my company. Best of all, when I want to search for specific software, I can search by category and by industry to thus facilitating my search. I have been able to save time in making decisions about which software best suits my business needs, thanks to the opinions of the experiences that other users write, I have been able to establish the characteristics that best suit me when I am comparing various software of the same style and functionality . I would like them to update their interface to a better user experience in order to further facilitate the search since this platform has had the same interface for a long time, thus being able to lag behind other review platforms in the near future. software. Another thing that would be quite useful is if it had an initiative for users to be able to leave opinions, although anyone is free to leave opinions, there are many software that have few opinions, making it difficult to make decisions based on the experience of others. users, besides that some opinions are a bit old, so my suggestion is to encourage developers to include this platform within their software to leave an opinion directly without going to this site and thus fill more comments in based on the experience of each user.
SourceForge has been a key platform to access a large list of Open Source projects, the platform has full access to newly released projects, allows you to create complete projects within SourceForge, you can host a new project or import it directly from GitHub and have access to statistics. SourceForge also has a complete Business Software selection, which gives you full access to the latest software released today, you can also check old software, check advanced reviews on any software, check overall score, features, functions, missing features within of each platform and much more, you can also have pricing details on any software.
I believe that SourceForge has everything necessary to provide a utility to any company, it offers a very complete section of reviews where companies can be supported to improve the integration of new software. The reviews on SourceForge are very detailed, it is a very easy to use platform and very accessible.
