Speafy is an AI-powered, language-agnostic language learning web app. It's built for self-learners, expats, and travelers who want real spoken and listening fluency, not just flashcard memorization. An AI tutor named Babi guides every lesson, answers questions conversationally, and proactively checks in with a personalized Daily Study Plan (built around however much time you have that day) and a casual Weekly Recap of your progress.
The learning system runs on FSRS, a spaced-repetition algorithm that schedules each word right before it would be forgotten, growing review intervals from 1 day to 1 year. A dedicated Grammar Lab gives structured, referenceable explanations for 70 grammar points, and the Listen & Speak Lab lets learners practice real spoken conversation with Babi, with each turn graded and specific mistakes flagged for review.
Speafy currently teaches Turkish, with 454 topics and 3,544 words across everyday survival domains — greetings, shopping, transport, restaurants, banking, healthcare, housing, and more — and more target languages are planned soon. The platform supports 5 base/interface languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Farsi), so learners from any of those backgrounds get the full experience, including a right-to-left interface for Farsi speakers.
Each word includes native target-language audio (Google WaveNet), a translation into the learner's base language, and AI-generated example sentences, with on-demand deeper morphological analysis available.
Speafy also runs a Teacher Partner Program: language teachers can refer students to practice independently between classes (topics, flashcards, grammar, and AI-guided listening/speaking exercises) and monitor progress through a dedicated Teacher Dashboard.
