What is Stelae?

Stelae is a web service that combines WordPress as an editing environment with a static HTML live site. Each site gets a private WordPress instance for editing content, installing themes, and configuring the site. When published, Stelae exports the WordPress site as static HTML and can deploy it to statichost.eu, Cloudflare Workers, a git repository, or provide a downloadable archive.

The published site contains no PHP, no database, and no WordPress admin surface. Visitors receive pre-rendered static files from the chosen host, while the WordPress editor remains private and separate from the live site. Static exports and WordPress backups can be downloaded, so the live site has no runtime dependency on Stelae after deployment.

Stelae is built in Germany and uses an EU-based technical stack. It is designed for users who like WordPress’s editing experience but prefer the security, portability, and simplicity of a static website.
