What is Tack Window Tabs?

Tack gives macOS the tabbed windows that Finder and Safari already have, but for every app. Drag one window onto another, or pick them from a menu, and they join a single group with a strip of folder-style tabs above them. Clicking a tab brings that window forward and hides the rest, so a dozen scattered windows collapse into one.

It works with any app that has regular windows — editors, terminals, browsers, design tools, Electron apps — and mixes them freely in the same group, because it talks to windows through the system Accessibility API rather than needing per-app support. Hovering an inactive tab shows a live preview of the window behind it.

Tack is not a tiling window manager. It does not take over your layout, replace Mission Control, or ask you to disable System Integrity Protection. It groups the windows you pick and leaves everything else alone. Groups live on the display and Space where you made them, tab strips account for the notch, and sessions restore after a restart.

If you used Groupy on Windows and missed tabbed window groups after switching to a Mac, Tack is that idea built natively for macOS.

One purchase activates up to three Macs. A 14-day trial is included; when it ends, grouping stops and the windows simply ungroup — nothing is held hostage. Universal binary for Apple silicon and Intel, requires macOS 13 or later. Accessibility permission is needed so Tack can move and arrange other applications' windows; it never reads your content.
