What is TopCalendar?

TopCal is a modern, ad-free calendar and task app for Android.

Navigation is built around two clearly separated swipe axes: swipe horizontally to change the time period, swipe vertically to move through time. The day under your finger stays put across view changes, so switching between year, month, week, day and agenda always lands where you meant to.

Views

  • Year: overview and quick date picking
  • Month: grid with week numbers, events and optional moon phases
  • Week: day columns or an hourly grid
  • Day: hourly timeline with all-day events, tasks and birthdays
  • Agenda: a chronological, scrollable list

No ads There are no ads anywhere — not on the home screen, not while creating an event. Nothing to mistap, nothing to close.

Tasks and reminders Tasks with due dates sit alongside events. Reminders fire through exact alarms, keep working in battery saver mode and are rescheduled after a reboot. CalDAV task lists are supported through the OpenTasks provider, so they sync with whatever CalDAV adapter you already use (for example DAVx5).

Your data stays where you put it TopCal reads and writes the Android calendar. That means you decide where your data lives: purely on the device, on your own CalDAV server (Nextcloud, SOGo, Radicale, Fastmail …), or in a Google account. TopCal has no cloud of its own, no account and no sign-up. Optional anonymous usage statistics can be switched off at any time.

Works without calendar access Calendar permission is optional. Without it, the date grid, tasks and birthdays keep working — useful for trying the app before granting anything.

Widgets, Wear OS and more

  • Five home-screen widgets: agenda, month, day, next event and today focus
  • Birthdays from your contacts (optional)
  • A history page that lists what you changed in TopCal and restores any of it
  • Wear OS: upcoming events as a tile, a watch-face complication and a list in the watch app — the watch needs no permission of its own

Languages 18 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Catalan, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Greek and Ukrainian.

Free and paid The full ad-free base app is free with no time limit. Optional extras (configurable widgets, a custom multi-day range, advanced theming, event templates, deeper contact and birthday integration, export/backup, on-device natural-language entry) can be unlocked with a one-time purchase. Two features that genuinely cost us something to run — a reliability service for reminders and continuously curated school-holiday data — are subscription-based. You choose the form: one-time, prepaid, or auto-renewing.
