Comments and Reviews
I use Trakt.tv all the time. It's an awesome way to track what I watch.
Great site, but, really, 100 items limit for watchlist? Just no. Not recommend anymore.
It was a very good tracker before the v3 and the horrible UI while striping down many features and walking away from the community side. All this while making the VIP overpriced in the process, what a waste and let's not even mention when they corrupted their entire database and took weeks to fix it.
Although it wasn’t open source, the service it offere is almost on a par with TVTime – and was still quite comprehensive without being overcomplicated. Tracking what you’d watched or re-watched was easy (unlike on Trakt), and the statistics were presented rather well before their last major update and visual overhaul. I’m surprised there isn’t an open-source equivalent, as there is for books with the Internet Archive’s OpenLibrary. I’m finding it very difficult to understand how to record whether you’ve watched or re-watched a programme: for the first viewing, OK, you click on that ✅; if you’ve watched it at another time, you have to click as if you’re inserting it between two other programmes, AND only then can you change the date.
Huge downvote for the new V3. 2 months without support for my browser, missing features. It forced me to selfhost by Yamtrack.
The UI is getting worse and worse. Captchas everywhere, forced logins...
Still provides most of the basic functionality to users for free but has been going down the road of enshittification. Increasing prices by 100%, locking core features behind paywall, and not listening to the community feedback. This has lead to poor design and business choices.
If you are willing to pay above what the app is worth then it will do what you expect. However, be ready for further price changes, feature changes, and, with how the app is being managed, for it to shut down.
