True COGS

True COGS is a Shopify app for accurate cost of goods sold. Shopify stores only one cost per item and overwrites it whenever it changes, so your recorded cost goes stale and your margins drift. True COGS fixes this: when inventory is received, you enter what you paid and it recalculates the weighted-average or FIFO cost and writes it back to Shopify automatically. Every change is saved to a permanent, append-only cost-history ledger that is never overwritten — a complete, auditable record you can export to CSV for your accountant. It also allocates landed cost (freight and duty) across received items and produces COGS and margin reports. True COGS is a strong alternative for merchants migrating from Shopify Stocky, which is shutting down on August 31, 2026, and which provided weighted-average unit costing.
