What is Unity AI?
Unity AI is Unity’s official in-editor AI assistant, currently in open beta for Unity 6 and above. It is deeply integrated into the Unity Editor and designed specifically to help developers build games faster with strong project context awareness. Unlike third-party tools, Unity AI runs natively inside the editor and offers both conversational assistance and agentic capabilities. Key features include Plan Mode for turning ideas into structured implementation plans, specialized Skills for Unity tasks, automatic verification of changes, and safe experimentation through checkpoints and rollback.
The assistant can generate assets (materials, sounds, 2D/3D models), build scenes, create UI from Figma files, analyze Profiler data for optimization, and even generate custom editor tools tailored to your project.
Unity AI also includes an official MCP Server, allowing developers to connect external AI clients (such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Windsurf) to control and automate tasks directly inside the Unity Editor.
It is available to all Unity users, with different access models depending on license type (free trial + subscription for Personal Edition; included for Pro and higher).
