Working on Windows 7 x64 Viber consumes 154Mb of memory, while Skype consumes 68Mb and Miranda 4Mb My opinion thats unacceptable. Many modern programs consumes large amounts of memory. Modern program developers don't care about speed and memory optimization, component writers don't care about speed and memory optimization. That's bad. I think that memory consumption must by one of the key parts for programs that stay active on computers all of the time.

They don't have a bug bounty program. Their support can't speak proper English.
Extremely popular mobile chat app in Ukraine. Maybe #1 chat app in Ukraine. A lot of people using Viber in Ukraine for home-chats, for family-chats, for school-chats, business, etc. Much more people than Telegram, or other apps like WhatsApp, etc.
Since the begining of war that started by russians against Ukraine, Viber in Ukraine several time captured by leaking / spying / non protecting / and sabotage different kind of information.
After investigation found next problems: 1.) They store all data in viber.db and does not encrypt the file anyhow. Anybody any virus, or any software can download the file and have full chat history. Russians actively use that and stealing and reading about what ukranians chat with each other. In the file stored ALL information that can be even stored in chat app (mobile phones, name of contact, location, chats, groups chats, all messages (even deleted ones)). Etc etc.
2.) Second biggest problem - notifications when air alarms comes. What is air alarm in Ukraine? It's when russians launch multiple 6m long rockets from Kaspea sea, from Black Sea, from Belarus and Russian Federation to mass-kill ukranians in Ukraine. The rockets need a time to fly until reach the destination.
How Viber related to notifications? We have official groups with air alarm about potential strike. So. Viber in begining of war especially for cities where 100% will be rocket strike - did not notify anybody about air alarm. (in first weeks, until new apps developed by ukranians for the needs). All apps on mobile phone works fine, and notify just in time - viber does not. Doing that after 10-30-60 minutes or does not doing that at all.
And viber has been captured not once, viber captured massively by thousands of people everywhere in Ukraine by not sending just in a time notification for subscribed alarm channel in Viber in cities specifically when russian rocket hit.
3.) Since 25 feb 2022, they joined different SDKs from all russian state platforms which guarantee will identify ANY client by their device ID and will know who where, what contacts the guy has in his smartphone, etc. All of that data transfered to russians, not directly, but collected and tranfered.
4.) Android app in Play Store permissions. Read them. There are dozens of permissions which required by Viber. All of these permissions can be easily explained - for espionage usage. Nothing more.
5.) Viber = Belarus company, with the offices in Belarus. (from Belarus territory russians did attack thought Chernobyl with tanks, artillery, many thousands of troops, etc and did tons of massacres and mass killings of Ukranians). I.e. Belarus on side of Russia in the war against Ukraine. You can verify it yourself by googling viber in Belarus. Technically the company belongs to Japonese guy, but original owner and the guys who administrate / manage the app - Belarus = FSB / KGB.
Summary about Viber:
This is sad story how one company can destroy themself in 1 week since the war.
All that they must to do - be neutral and keep follow principles about not leaking data, about not sabotage privacy, locations, notifications, etc.
And now in june 2022 after almost 4 months - you will get what you deserve.

Viber is a cross platform IM app, that allows free calls and messages among Viber users, plus VOIP encrypted calls to mobile or landline phones using Viber Out for low rates, or using World Monthly Subscription. VOIP rates are very competitive. Connection quality is excellent.
Viber could be a good mesenger if only they cared about user privacy and security. You share your phone number with anyone, there is always advertising in it or someone trying to sell you something.
