What is Wordmate.sh?

Wordmate is a free, privacy-focused voice-typing app for Apple silicon Macs. It converts speech into text entirely on-device and pastes the result into whichever app you were using, including editors, terminals, browsers, email, messaging apps, Codex, and Claude Code.

Speech recognition is powered by latest transcription models with support for 25 European languages. Post-processing LLMs clean up punctuation, filler words, repetitions, false starts, and spoken formatting before the text is pasted. Models run natively on Apple silicon, completely offline.

Wordmate.sh does not require an account and never sends recordings, transcripts, or usage history to its servers. It lives in the macOS menu bar, supports built-in and external microphones. There are no subscriptions, usage limits, credits, advertisements, paid tiers, or trial countdowns.

Wordmate requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple silicon Mac. A Mac with 16 GB of memory is recommended for comfortable use, although the app can run with less. The transcription pipeline is publicly available under the MIT License.
