EDIT 2020-09-21: I decided to revisit this app and heard that this project probably isn't being maintained anymore. There is a fork, named TarTube, and I am going to check that out momentarily. https://github.com/axcore/tartube
Tartube
YouTube-dl in its own right is a great application, and Youtube-DLG just makes the experience even better. For those, like myself, who are too lazy to use a command line sometimes, or for those who don't even want to be bothered with it, YouTube-DLG will allow you to reap all the benefits of YouTube-dl in a noob-friendly way.
My only complaint is that sometimes videos just inexplicably fail to download, though whether this is a YouTube-dl, YouTube-DLG, or just YouTube issue is unknown.

A great GUI for even greater command-line utility youtube-dl which it's using internally to do the actual work. A safe alternative to all those x-downloader websites which are often dangerous and a fraud. Also, it allows much greater control over the downloaded media than downloading websites, it can download videos in various formats, resolutions and it can even download subtitles.
Relatively fast; it can download limitless playlists without the annoying limit by X videos, and one of the best things is that you can use the mp3 —if you convert the videos to that format—while it is still downloading the rest of the playlist. Maybe some kind of choosing what videos inside the playlist in order to not repeat the whole process again would be great.
I even could have downloaded playlists from SoundCloud.
Only a 30ss clip; so useless for SoundCloud.
