Checked out many other genealogy programs. Used Gramps for a long time. But this one is better than any other I tested. Why?

  • Smartest GEDCOM import. Corrects on the fly.
  • Navigation through the whole (!!) family tree, not only on parts of it. No need to jump fore and back.
  • Open two tree instances to compare parts of it. Big plus!
  • Very good wizzard to elminate person duplicates or to merge them.

Give it a try! While I still use Gramps because of its vast plug-ins community and the possibility to extend it with my own python routines I constantly switch to Ancestris. Just faster to work with.

TESTIMONIALS section is completely fake, reverse image search for the people providing the reviews are from an eye website; "ALICE" who is supposed to be a historian is actually a blogger named Deinah Storm; guillaume de morant does seem to be ligit, another woman on there is a stock image. Not sure why the fake testimonials unless there is a data miner or something else hidden in the software. Just be cautious.

What was the idea behind reverse searching those images? What had been suspicious?

  • If you want to be cautious just deactivate net access to ancestris using your firewall.
  • 'data miner', 'something hidden'? This is open source! Just inspect the source. It's open via SVN. I could not find any odd parts in the source. (BTW: I am not related to the team in any way. I am just an interested programmer.)

My opinion: It's not fair to tear down the reputation in such a way without referring to any of the real software features!
