Works well as an aid to managing my collection. What I've watched, what I have, What I've deleted, etc. Also well-organized info about everything I might want to know about an anime. Except localization details.
No mobile app, the API is so obsolete I have no idea how to use it
Ok, honestly I never understood why AniDB seems to be so underrated. I am guessing the main reason is it's kind of outdated UI.
Ok first of all, maybe because I have been using this site for almost 2 decades, I feel more comfortable in it, rather than any other site. Anime information page are detailed, shows connections to other anime and whatnot and I just love it.
Now though, something that is not as well known. AniDB was is and will always will be #1 site for anime collectors that download their anime and store them in their HDD (for their own reasons). AniDB offers a file rename tool, that scans your files and if the file is added in it's database, it will check the CRC of the file, find which anime/episode it corresponds to and automatically rename the file. Not only that is great because it automates renaming your files, but also it helps in another great way. You can at any time check if yours files are corrupt, as the AniDB rename tool after all checks CRC, so again if the file is in it's database to begin with, you will always know if yours files are corrupt or not.
I love AniDB and I have not enough words to express it!
