Autodesk ReCap

Autodesk ReCap Pro is a software tool for creating 3D models for real-world infrastructure projects. It allows designers and engineers to capture detailed models of real-world assets and supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes. ReCap Pro includes features for 3D scanning, software and web services, and a mobile application for registering and measuring reality capture data in the field. Users can import 3D geometry to their ReCap file to compare design intent with actual progress and convert their point cloud into a mesh for use in other Autodesk products.

The software combines UAV and laser scan data for designing in context and refines the process of converting View States into animations. It has an automatic registration feature that creates a 3D model from 3D laser scanning data and an intelligent cleanup feature that removes extraneous objects from point clouds. Users can add notes, pictures, and hyperlinks to their 3D model and share with collaborators. It supports photo-based reality capture, allowing users to upload photos and get back 3D mesh, point cloud, and orthographic images. The Photo-to-3D feature enables manual or automatic stitching of photos to create a 3D model, and the software supports geolocation/GPS & scaling for a more accurate point cloud.
