users of windows 8 or newer, should never clear the registry! If you try to clean registry, then your boot will slow down.
hey I was curious, last year I downloaded Ccleaner for an old computer, but recently I just purchased a new laptop, and it is windows 8...What do you suggest as an alternative, if it happens to slow down?

I suggest the new CCleaner with the Pro features, like monitoring browsers. It's really cool app and helps to keep privacy and security in higher standards. Suggestions for your laptop "iobit-uninstaller" to remove unwanted pre installed apps. "Haozip" for rar zip isos and more! The best thing for anything compressed. Jdownloader 2 BETA to download anything you want from the web (BE CAUTIOUS press DECLINE to the software he propose to install during the setup, READ EVERY SINGLE ACCEPT)
Since Avast purchased Piriform CCleaner in July 2017, updates and installs cannot be trusted anymore. Reports of CCleaner updates installing Avast AV ... with default opt-in
CCleaner/Avast are phoning home with user data At first only PRO could be opted out, but more recently free CC now has opt-out. Avast have been ducking and weaving with CCleaner since they took over Piriform 10 months ago Portable CC has also been discontinued :(
What will they get up to next ? Very disappointing with this very long term favorite being treated as a cash cow by Avast
CC installer used to offer Google Toolbar *opt-in" but Avast have changed that to opt-out or you get their AV and consequences of 2 AVs on your machine. I can no longer trust Avast/Piriform ...

used to trust this software so much years ago that when it showed that the browser i was using wasnt secure and told me to use their browser it felt the same but now i realize how much of a naive kid i was
I used CCleaner back then and it get the work done for me ( I wanted to erase the entire USB flash drive files and format it). but a small note: this program is owned by Avast, which is famous for selling user data. There are several better alternatives
CCleaner 6.39 is annoying with so many popups and messages, but OH BOY I was not ready for CCleaner 7 : Horrible design, extremely slow, just a disastrous product. CCleaner is no longer what it used to be.
This software was one of the best. Now, it has deteriorated with its heaviness and permanent alerts. I install it in the free version, clean it up and uninstall it immediately afterwards. I don't understand why it's so high in the rating.
Old program, old ratings, but for the very particular.. it still does the best in cleaning sessions storage (under \user data\default\session storage) while also allowing whitelisting cookies that I've seen in any cleaner.
CCleaner used to be so good and there was a time it was considered the go to for system cleaning. Now the spark is gone and the Windows app is utter shambles. BleachBit is my go-to.
Because of that, I refuse to install it on my Android device. I use SD Maid instead.
I would rather support FLOSS efforts.
Bleachbit doesn't whitelist cookies.
