Avidemux and LosslessCut are 2 great FOSS video editting programs that I use for speed and lightness. They will both clip videos using copy/ remuxing quickly vs having to do slow encoding. Avidemux's 38mb intallation is a lot lighter than Davinci's 3gb+. Avidemux can encode videos toward a specified target file size, in case you want to stay under 500mb, etc. You can also compress with H.264 encoding, and adjusting CRF(Constant Rate Factor) Avidemux has numerous filters available including a...

- Flexible control of image quality: I can manually adjust image quality to fit in the bandwidth or keep the best quality. I can use the highest setting with a 900p screen on my 1Gb Ethernet. Commented on Gihosoft Free Video CutterIf you're looking for simple beginning and ending fast cropping and don't mind a little fuddling with viewing vs being able to speed thru the vid, Gihosoft may be the way to go. If you want multiple cropping points, Avidemux or Lossless Cut may be the next choice. Lossless Cut if you want speed viewing and/or fast Rotate, and Avidemux if you want more filters.

I do not work much with videos but recently I needed to trim some parts of a video and after trying other free video editors it was Gihosoft Video Cutter the one that allowed me to do the job as easy as 1, 2,3.

I'm not video expert, but I needed to trim a very large video and tried several options. Avidemux was the simplest to use video editor I have used. Other similar programs are very complex. I rated this program with four stars cause I only tried to trim some parts of a large video. What shocked me is that the website looks like the program is discontinued.
