From using Criptext for the past 6 months now, I've come to consider it one of the best open source, security and privacy minded email application out there. I also use other open source privacy minded email, but criptext is quickly becoming my favorite. Their UX design is well thought through, and this gives it such a solid look and feel. Furthermore that fact that your email is not stored in any 3rd-party server is such a big plus!
HI Jerry.
@uuu who said they were based in Switzerland? But you're right, their terms and conditions state "The Service is controlled and offered by Company from its facilities in the United States of America."
Oh dear:
"Mayer Mizrachi has been associated with one company, according to public records. The company was incorporated in Florida seven years ago and is no longer active."
See: https://www.corporationwiki.com/p/2fetkn/mayer-mizrachi for Criptext info
Can't signup for new user.... Seems it is nearing its lifetime
App is great, but signups are suspended for now.
Only front-end is open-source ? https://github.com/Criptext/Criptext-Email-React-Client/issues/1511
As a non-techie person who wanted an email provider that was anonymous and private Criptext did it all. E2E. Stored locally. Open source. Free. Custom domains!
My one issue with Criptext is this: running Windows 10, the desktop app crashes if loading more than one email or if I stress the app a little. This is a real deal-breaker for me, but it may work fine on your machine. Criptext is still in beta and I'm hoping they can resolve this error quickly. Until then, I'll have to switch to something like tutanota, or msgsafe.io.
Been evaluating alternativeTo Gmail. Used protonmail for a bit, but was not totally comfortable, which has opensourced only part of their UI (They are not an opensource product).
Criptext looks promising so far. Been using it for the last 2 months, and migrating all banking/finance apps to this email.
Still using gmail for login to third party apps though.
