Of all the other android status bar internet speed indicators this one I consider the best and most trustworthy since it's the only one that's open source.
It works, but to be actually useful to me it would need some much needed features: cut internet connection when limit is reached, weekly/monthly limits instead of only daily limits, data usage/tracking from different SIM cards, add monthly data for rechargeable data plans etc... Still, this is currently the best available app for the job !
If you're looking to stay on top of your Wi-Fi or data usage more effectively, then this app will definitely help you to do so. You'd add your data allowance to the app and from there the app will show you how much data you've used and how that compares to your data allowance. It also breaks up your usage so you can see whether it's Wi-Fi or mobile data that you've been using. It even has a handy widget for quickly seeing your data usage at a glance on your phone's home screen.
