Did I take my meds has a really useful option that Simpill doesn't have: you can add pills you take occasionally and not only those you take every day at a constant hour.
Simpill looked easier to use cause more minimalistic but Did I take my meds's interface is actually quite intuitive.
There's one thing I don't understand though: why can't we see the last dose on the main page for occasional pills? You have to click on each pill to see how long it's been since you last took it (annoying when you have lots of meds). For constant medication you can see the status (taken/not taken) on the main page, as expected.
In short, Did I take my meds can be useful both to write down when you last took your meds so that you respect the necessary duration in between, and to set reminders to take your meds. As of the 1.3.4 version on F-Droid you can only do the second with Simpills.
Basically I like it but I have no opinion on the code or security cause I'm no developer. Hope this helps!
