Just playing around with it, the interface is very simple and quite similar in design and function to sketchup. This seems like a great alternative for simple CAD modelling. It looks to be lacking some of the more advanced features, like adding locations from Google Earth or objects from an online repository. However, it looks pretty polished for the basic functionality.

An additional functionality of Dune 3D includes the ability to import STEP models for reference purposes and the exportation of high-quality STEP and STL files.

Being a free and open-source application, Dune 3D is constructed on a modern, legacy-free codebase. It is designed to be compatible with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
