FerrumPix

FerrumPix is a free and open-source desktop photo manager, RAW developer and image editor for Linux and Windows, with experimental macOS builds.

It is designed as an all-in-one workflow for photographers who want to browse, organize, develop and edit their images without relying on a cloud service or splitting the job across several applications.

FerrumPix combines a searchable photo catalogue with ratings, favourites, keywords, people and location filtering, fullscreen viewing, side-by-side comparison and batch processing. Its editor includes RAW development, exposure and colour controls, curves, HSL, colour grading, crop and perspective tools, layers, masks, retouching, text, shapes, filters and optional local AI-assisted tools.

RAW files are developed from the sensor data and can use measured lens-correction profiles. Editing is non-destructive where appropriate: RAW and Photoshop edits are stored in sidecars, and FerrumPix does not modify originals unless you explicitly save.

For self-hosted workflows, FerrumPix can connect directly to Immich and Nextcloud. Remote photos can be browsed alongside local folders, downloaded, uploaded and edited, with supported metadata synchronized between the desktop catalogue and the server.

Other features include batch rename/convert/resize/export, watermarks, contact sheets, collages, metadata inspection, video viewing, face recognition, location search and support for common image formats including RAW, JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF/AVIF, TIFF and layered Photoshop files.

FerrumPix is aimed at keeping the workflow lightweight and approachable while covering much more than a traditional folder browser or RAW converter.
