Comments and Reviews
It's like Discord, but without the age verification and data collection. It's also FOSS!
age verification will come to fluxer too! Don't you worry.
rumors says it's vibecoded, it has been made on a rush since discord started to suck, and their main instance ToS/moderation are just baby crying type of stuff. has a subscription on their main instance which locks EXACTLY the same features as discord (which is pretty limiting already). they will also randomly lock your account entirely you and ask you for a phone number to "verify you're not a bot" if you're not prudent enough (yep, just like discord, again), which is already privacy-invasive. technically, it's just like discord, so there's no actual improvement. if you won't self-host fluxer, it's really not a good idea to use it.
(First of all I approve of the username) https://fluxer.app/blog/how-i-built-fluxer-a-discord-like-chat-app This above seems to be the official development blog post, it seems like Fluxer has been in development for roughly 5 years (as a hobby project). I will confirm the rumors that AI has been used.
The dev says: "I used LLMs sparingly as a troubleshooting and planning aid" "Fluxer isn't vibe-coded, describing it that way would be false and unfair to years of work"
@4thy nothing wrong with using AI to develop. people bitchen about it are whats wrong with any social space but to be fair. the app sucks. and about all of what the above user says is true! those worrying about vibecoding get your head out of sand for reals my guys.
They don't support or believe in protecting comedy/satire. They won't back you up like the likes of Kick, rumble or odysee. the software devs and other people on top are likely the same people who would flock to blueskye. They call it a safe space also. its very frustrating i don't need another community to be a place that coddles insufferable people like those who are anti AI. and this place is INFESTED with toxic anti AI people everywhere! So, unless you're into bdsm and you like getting blocked and banned by people who can't think and are extremely emotional then maybe this is the app for you.
It would be almost effortless for even the most entrenched discord normie to navigate and use. The UI is almost 1:1. In fact, you can save your old discord channels template and import it into Fluxer effectively making a clone of your old setup instead of having to meticulously remake every category, channel, and permission manually.
One of the best alternatives to Discord
100% It's similar to Discord, of course — it doesn't have all the features, but I like it. It has everything you need for communication, it's open-source, and they'll be adding federation and encryption soon.
I have a lot of hope for Fluxer, but being as new as it is it's currently struggling a lot with downtime issues. At least the dev gives more of a hoot than the Stoat dev seems to.
