In 2026, paying for JRiver Media Center feels like buying a ticket back to 1998. The software is fundamentally incapable of handling basic cross-platform database migration. Moving a library from macOS to Windows results in instant, total failure—producing constant "File not found" errors because the software cannot automatically resolve Unix vs. Windows drive paths. Forcing users to manually perform convoluted database Find-and-Replace operations just to link existing local files is ridiculous for paid software when modern, free alternatives do this seamlessly in the background.

Worse still, their user infrastructure is a broken relic. The official support forum relies on obsolete verification mechanisms and broken mail routing that fails to deliver activation emails, locking out paying customers who need assistance.

Between a fragile database structure, a dated interface, and virtually inaccessible support, JRiver Media Center is thoroughly obsolete. Do not waste your money on software that demands manual database editing for tasks resolved decades ago by proper media players.

I cannot edit my old review so here is a new one. I discovered that date tags were not managed correctly when I rip a CP on JRiver. After some discussions on different forums, it appears that JRiver has some problems with tags and cannot be trusted. So I don’t use it anymore for Ripping or tag management.

full bdmv support including menu(need to see option), suggestion when playback not working(not always working), I like windows interface and not kodi like.

Don't even waste your time trying this program. I tested it to see if it was any good and found it slow, antiquated and buggy. What's worse, the only support you can get, even for paying customers, is through a forum managed by the lunatic owner(JimH)of the company that develops this program. Avoid at all costs!

Head and shoulders above the rest with a feature set and user community that meets the needs of the power hungry user.
