What is Markdownizer?

Markdownizer converts Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint and HTML documents into clean Markdown built for feeding into AI tools such as Claude Desktop and ChatGPT, and for RAG workflows. Formatting overhead in Office documents and PDFs wastes tokens and is harder for language models to parse. Markdownizer strips it out and keeps the content.

Drop a file, a folder or a ZIP archive and convert everything at once. Output includes YAML frontmatter with document metadata, normalized headings, and code block detection in Word documents. Footnotes, endnotes and Word text boxes are kept instead of dropped. Custom conversion profiles fit different projects. Optional image descriptions use your own AI key (Claude, OpenAI, local Ollama or a compatible provider). All core conversion runs offline: your files are never uploaded.

Every feature is free for 15 days. After the trial, single-file conversion stays free (10 conversions per month). A one-time purchase (no subscription) unlocks batch conversion, custom profiles, AI image descriptions and custom frontmatter mapping.
