    Not bad at a first glance. No tracking and other abusive practices. Offers free accounts that should be quite usable. Mail clients are allowed.

    However, free accounts cannot use POP3, only IMAP (much less convenient and reliable). They will also be deleted after 1 year of inactivity. And the service also annoyingly blocks many IPs from registration outright. Wish I could give it a higher rating as it seems to be much better than many other more 'fancy' commercial providers out there.

Pros:

  • Respects your privacy
  • Hosted in France (not in the US)
  • Short, easy-to-remember, and pronounceable domain name (mailo.com)
  • Cheap

Cons:

  • Emails are not stored with "zero-access encryption" (unlike Proton Mail or Tutanota)
  • The user interface looks a bit dated
  • The mobile app is really bad (in terms of UI)

Those are not really cons... 'Easy encryption' is a scam anyway. And old UIs are almost always better than the 'modern' trash.

Too bad it's a French company and therefor cannot accept Free and Open Source Money such as Bitcoin or Monero for Mailo Pro without any considerable headaches and high taxes from the government.

Basicaly it's good alternative for all in one ecosystems. It's not as advanced as big spying companies, but it does it job well.

  • There's a lot of free logins and aliases to use. I'm using my name.
  • Free tier is enough, but I'm running on paid tier (from 1€ per month)
  • there's a lot of services within Mailo.com ecosystem, like storage, calendar etc.
  • 2FA is supported
  • everything is stable and accessible
  • iOS/Android app will be updated this year
