I haven't used NetBeans and Eclipse under Windows, but under Linux I clearly can say that I rather Netbeans over Eclipse, since so far I have had no problem at all using Netbeans, but Eclipse sometimes gave me weird behaviour/bugs, so in sum as the title says: NetBeans is more Linux-Friendly than Eclipse, and that's the reason I use it as default.

A good platform for Java development, with GUI building either using Swing or JavaFX. Further, it supports the Tomcat server, with Java EE, which is now called Jakarta EE. It's more sophisticated than Eclipse, but what I also find is, that NetBeans can be just a bit temperamental, if the user/programmer isn't experienced. Supports Ant, Maven and Gradle.

As far as IDE's go, this one sucks. This sh***y "software" made me want to smash my computer with a hammer. I tried to use a jframe on it, and I couldn't even EDIT half the code AND I couldn't make an event for it! So when I exported it, I ran it, and all I had was in infernal button that did nothing when you click on it. Not to mention, adding jframes couldn't be harder. I honestly think that apache didn't really give a crap when they made this thing. Yes, for weeks now I've wanted to make a graphical java app, but I just deleted it due to itself being bloatware and its complete and utter obsoletism. PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. Or Firefox, for that matter, which takes up a full 2gb of ram and another gigabyte of storage.

The program is not discontinued you morons, it is still being actively developed. Only the Python plugin for NetBeans has been discontinued.

NetBeans has super useful utilities that I cannot live without, especially when doing Java development. NetBeans even let me program in C99 with Cygwin. It can be set up very fast and easily. I would highly recommend NetBeans! P.S - The Darcula and Wakatime plugins are awesome!
