What is Nexus Terminal?

Nexus Terminal is a free, open-source extension that brings SSH sessions, SFTP file management, serial consoles and port forwarding into Visual Studio Code and VSCodium. Connection profiles are organized in a sidebar, alongside tunnels, macros and scripts.

It can create and maintain connection profiles from NetBox inventory, group devices by site and rack, and show a preview of proposed changes before applying a sync. EVE-NG integration imports lab nodes and their console connections. Existing SSH sessions can also be imported from MobaXterm and SecureCRT.

SSH features include reusable authentication profiles, jump hosts, and local, reverse and dynamic port forwarding. Macros and JavaScript scripts support repetitive terminal tasks. The extension connects as a client without installing an agent on the remote host.

It runs in desktop VS Code/VSCodium on Windows and Linux. The source is available under the Apache 2.0 license, and all features are free.
