Comments and Reviews
As the other commenters have noted, MobaXterm has an unlimited free trial with a limited feature set. So if you don't want to spend any money, you may not find MobaXterm as useful. But if you buy the full version, it has a huge feature set that is well integrated and works wonderfully.
Sure, you could build yourself something similar using several different open source and free software tools. I'd done that, but still found value in MobaXterm because it does the work of several disparate apps. The price seemed high at first, but the more I looked around at the alternatives, the more it seemed worth it. Good tools cost money to build, and I want to support the creation of tools like this. There's a reason PuTTY doesn’t have tabs and hasn't changed much in more than a decade: no-one is paying for features to be developed.
MobaXterm literally brings a feeling joy to Linux and Unix connectivity from Windows. In my opinion, it's well worth the price, and is in the same league of other best-of-breed tools worthy of our support, like PhraseExpander, PowerGrep, XYPlorer, and TestRail.
If you want free transportation, you can walk or use a bicycle. If you want to travel quickly, in comfort, and style, you buy a nice car. In this analogy, PuTTY is a bicycle, and MobaXterm is a luxury sedan. There's nothing wrong with either choice. Everyone can decide which option they prefer.
I use ssh, vnc, sftp, rdp, etc. fairly infrequently compared to most who would be reviewing this, and am not exactly a command line wizard. That said, this is amazing. Everything works, having SFTP AND a built in text editor is incredibly convenient for small edits to remote files, VNC option to disable respect ratio is great, SSH works perfectly, RDP too. A true jack of all trades that has never limited me through a lack of, or broken, functionality.
I have a hard time believing anyone who actually needs the paid features/removal of limits isn't getting good value. If you make your money with these tools, the price is justified. Otherwise, I'd seriously question any non-professional who is limited by the pricing model.
This app is worth any price. I am very satisfied with the free version. Now, I want to kick myself for using Putty for all those antagonizing years.
Tried almost every proposed alternatives, none of them come even close to what MobaXterm offers. I decided to buy a license, and for anyone working with many Linux/Unix servers to manage, it is totally worth the investment.
Limitations are ok for everyday use. Other options just not usable without a lot of customization.
I would pay for it, if it wasn't 70 dollars a year.
Bad Support, wouldn't recommend. Nice features though and GUI.
I was able to resolve my issue. Nice software for network engineer and more. Upgraded from old PuttyCM. If price is not an issue for you - this is a must have. Support - there is a room to improve :).
