What is Socorin?

Socorin is a free, open-source desktop app for taking screenshots, annotating images and recording your screen. It runs in the menu bar or system tray and supports configurable keyboard shortcuts.

Capture a region or the full screen, including on multiple monitors and HiDPI displays. Annotate the selected region directly on screen with arrows, shapes, text, highlights, freehand drawing and numbered markers. Pixelate sensitive details before sharing. Copy the image to the clipboard, save it locally or upload it to get a share link.

Record a region or the full screen with optional microphone audio. When finished, copy the video file into a conversation, save it or upload it for sharing. Screenshots and recordings stay on your computer unless you choose an upload action.

Socorin is built with Tauri and Rust. The installers are about 3.8 MB for Windows and 7.7 MB for macOS. It supports macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, Windows 10 or later on x64, and Ubuntu 24.04 or later on x86_64. Screen recording on Linux requires FFmpeg. Uploading macOS recordings also requires FFmpeg to convert MOV files to MP4.
