I'm using it to coalesce 2 different Google calendars
This calendar was awesome -- such a smart synthesis of features not available in any other calendar, like an Android keyboard that lets you send people your available times. Also one of the only calendars where you could see your Facebook and Google events in the same place. WTF do we do now?
Trying to figure this out myself. It's such a damn shame. Even the Chrome app was excellent, and my main calendar on Windows. I keep trying other calendar apps on iOS, and some of them come close but are not quite there.
It was amazing! Shame Microsoft bought and killed it
Received notification this week that Sunrise will shortly cease to function, due to their switch to Outlook. Well, I use Google Calendar so I guess it's goodbye to one of the best calendar and planning apps I've ever used.
Thank goodness for alternativeto.net - let's hope Microsoft don't buy them up too.
Unfortunately it appears Sunrise, or at least it's developers, are now working for Microsoft, focused on Outlook mobile app. There have been no updates on the Sunrise Twitter account since October, and the Apple Watch app has been non-functional since WatchOS 2 came out. They've stated there will be no more updates to the Sunrise apps.
I really like Sunrise, hoping I can find an alternative way to merge my calendars that also works on all my devices.
The idea is they'll merge most if not all of the functions into the Outlook app itself.
Which is a terrible idea that nobody wants :/
Have you used the Outlook app? It was a great third-party app that Microsoft purchased, then made in charge of all of Outlook, even on the PC side. By merging Sunrise into that they're one step away from fixing the Task list! That's my main hope anyway.
Yes I have. It pales in comparison and there's no obvious way to use my google calendar with it. It doesn't show weather. Its only function seems to be to tell me about new junkmail in my old outlook account.
The idea that they would shut down Sunrise while their Outlook app/integration is still so abysmal is frankly disgusting.
My main problem with it is that they are not working on the desktop app. Sunrise was THE best calendar I've ever used, and I can't find a good desktop alternative that will sync with Asana. Google Calendar supposedly can but it didn't work when I tried.
This app had a great integration with Google Calendar but now that Microsoft has bought it they are focusing all their efforts into Outlook.
Goodbye Sunrise!
Tried in on numerous occasions, but this calendar is too complicated. I'd like to see a simple calendar Android widget, but Wunderlist doesn't have it. It's a nice app, just not for everyone.
