This is one of the best examples of what a community can do, with no money interest. Yes, the information itself can't be 100% trusted, but you can gather basic stuff by reading the page, or you can check the reference section for more reliable sources.
I was happy Wikipedia user for years and now they started to spam me with "donate" ads all the time. They recently increased staff dozens of times and this is why they need so much money. They should just fire all those unnecessary staff.
They need to make a living
Great for people who just wants to know a surface level knowledge about stuff. And for people who want to dig deeper, it is a massive collection of sources about a specific topic. You want to know about the repression of science in the USSR? Here are ten books about it under the source page. I've heard some people just use the source section in Wikipedia. It's just that useful for everyone.
