Ninite is a very basic application installer, it's not a debloater.

  • A dire reminder that software should always updated through packages managers (that build from source) that are often sponsored by respectable hosting companies with high quality products, instead of individual publishers that often use default cheap hosting with no good security at all.

Not sure about the political motivation though. Most already hijacked open-source projects, like Transmission or XZ, don't have any political stance.

It's fine for an ugly-looking editor. Not sure the use-case anymore, as basic IDE can be run on any laptop, and there are much better looking editors.

Also, be advised to update it if you use it, as an exploit was found that could take over your computer:

WhatsApp has had a history of security problems, and the development team has demonstrated repeatedly that they could not care less, so this app might never be secure. Here's more info, if you are interested:

whatapp repackages XMPP and violates your privacy excessively.

XMPP is an Open Standard frequently used for Texting, calling, video, conferencing

    XMPP Texting

If you're not using XMPP Texting you are [naively] needlessly paying to communicate on an internets device. It's likely you are new to connectivity (10 or less years). Grow up & spend less monthly.

Following today's announcement that WhatsApp plans to "..begin sharing more data with Facebook and will start letting some companies send messages to users.", it's high-time to look elsewhere and ditch WhatsApp for good.

There is an opt-out procedure, but can we trust facebook?

WhatsApp have claimed that they implement secure end-to-end encryption, which is intended to allow only the sender and recipient of a message to be able to read it. It has now been discovered that this is not in fact true. It looks as though WhatsApp intentionally weakened the way they implement the cryptography in order to enable "backdoor" access to transmitted messages.

Very bad about privacy, not a libe and open source program. Unfortunately, it has a huge success due to its nice interface, mainly, and other features like status.

Good alternatives I'm using are Telegram (not 100% libre and open source but still much better for privacy) and Wire.

In general, the best solution is to choose a program which does not depend on the Usa, Europe, China, Russia or any tyrannic regime. Wire (from Wire GmbH), is , according to me, the best alternative,...

Facebook bought it and its not open source. They read every message you sent and receive there don't care about privacy.

Worthless. Spying and data hoarding application. It's only strength comes from facebook backing it up. I strongly suggest NOT using this garbage.

sadly is owned by Facebook. Signal is far superior and better for privacy and security. Facebook are wanting to update whatsapp polices to allow them to do whatever they want. WhatsApp is basicly like the titanic and the iceberg is facebook

Basically Facebook spyware. Even if their E2E encryption claim is correct, they still collect a ton of metadata. No one should buy into this.
