This program offers the possibility to finally delete files and/or folders (no recovery possible). The program also can overwrite the free space on a drive, which means, that already deleted files cannot be restored, too.

It's not a complicated piece of software, all of these shredders accomplish the same thing relatively similarly. I would go with this one over the others simply because it supports wiping of files with unusual symbols or non-US characters in the file or path, which none of the other wipers I've tried did.
Thanks for bringing up this issue (unusual symbols and non-ASCII characters). Now that I think about it, a lot of my video files have Japanese characters, so this is something very important for people with non-English file and folder names to consider. Cheers! 👍💯
It can shred files or folders, and also those in the recycle bin. An entry can be set to the Windows Explorer context menu (Send to File Shredder). The software has an intuitive graphical user interface and works fine.
Alternate File Shredder is Free, Open Source. It is fairly extensive in its method options, though I don't notice particular named techniques. Extra nice.. logging capability. It will shred files & folders letting you choose the number of times you want to overwrite. Those who would like to use standardized named techniques may prefer Eraser program. Many people may want to overwrite an entire disk drive & this program doesn't provide an "easy button" to do so, however, programs KillDisk & Hardwipe do.
