I've run this on several of my personal computers for years, and have liked it. It's had its quirks, from version to version, but generally scores favorably in security tests and isn't too bad or a resource hog. I've strayed away, just a little, to Microsoft Security Essentials - which runs better on some of my aging hardware - but Avast! is my go-to for my own personal PCs.

I've used Avast FA in the past and it was a no brainer. Since then many years have passed. I've gained some insight, the software changed... and I would not recommend AFA to anybody, who wants a software to do, what you want.
Settings are ignored, reminders annoy, behaviors enforced, processes are deployed without consent, and request prompt you into a stalemate.
Honestly, I feel like I've been spoiled by usability that every developer have strived to achieve for the past 10 years or so and Avast just ignores as if it's still HTML 1 era and no adblock.
I get it it's free, but not my patience or my time. Save yourself some time and nerves and skip to something more respectful.
The antivirus that is hated and loved at the same time. Provides excellent protection and is the only antivirus on the market with the function to protect the program from being uninstalled. Avast and AVG have both been bought by Norton and are not really different from each other.

I don't like it, but I keep coming back to it. you have to turn off the core protection that is basically a proxy on your computer, it monitors all the websites and will block websites such as apkmb.. I set the AdGuard DNS in my router and it is a sufficient semi-protection, along with the google safe websites in browsers. putting it on silent mode, and whitelisting various folder you don't need to scan is also needed. plus - I remove the icon from the start bar since it is buggy on hover it sometimes stays..
Avast sold users behavior for years. So Avast was acting like a virus. So why support an antivirus acting like a virus? Don’t install Avast.
