I've spent some time comparing Checkvist to the similar services, and Checkvist is my final choice. I like it for its' clean interface, keyboard control for everything, great mobile web app (feels like native), instant and problem free syncing (an important one), friendly and engaged developers, low price for premium subscription, plenty of free features (if you don't wanna pay), and you don't lose any data by downgrading. Also there's a lot of nice surprises when you start using the service, like linking to specific places in your own lists (wiki-like) and little things that make it pleasant to work with. Try a demo by going to their website and pressing enter on your keyboard.
Checkvist is a general outlining app, but I would prefer an app specifically for task lists. Repeating tasks and backups require buying a subscription for $3.90 / month or $39 / year, but I would prefer not to buy a subscription.

It is best in its class! As a programmer I am used to use keyboard shortcuts a lot. Checkvist enables you to be as productive as you can! I am excited and delighted by this program. There is even a mobile version, where you can do some useful stuff on the way.
I don't like to mess with mouse when I do something. And Checkvist is the best todo manager which makes a lot of things easier.
If you are a developer you can use Checkvist API for making apps or make some magic with scripts.
Too slow to do basic data entry of notes, I highly suggest using
Workflowy or
Dynalist
if you want something similar but faster and more scalable
Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure what is slow for you. Enter text, press enter, enter more text, press enter. If you want to import some hierarchical text, use 'im' keyboard shortcut.
Plain but handy UI and intuitive for someone who wants to structure somethings(maybe knowledge or notes).
actually I use checkvist.com to replace mindmeister.com
